Arc 1950 ‘Le Village’ is a stunning purpose built resort in the French Alps within easy reach of numerous airports as well as the railway station of Bourg St Maurice all of which gives easy access from London and the rest of Europe. The resort is car free due to the large underground car parking facility and in winter is a spectacular ski in/out winter wonderland in one of the largest ski areas around, suitable for all ages and abilities. In the summer it is the perfect location to explore the beautiful Savoie region with its stunning scenery and numerous outdoor pursuits on the doorstep such as walking, mountain biking, paragliding, tennis, golf, white water rafting etc.
Our warm and cosy apartment, ‘Mountain View’, is a spacious (71.29sqm) two bedroom apartment in a fabulous location within the village. The property sits on the South/West corner of Jardins de la Cascade (Gardens of the Waterfall). As the name suggests the building has a private garden and nearby an impressive waterfall, which is seen at its best during the summer months as the ice melt cascades down the mountain. The apartment is in the perfect location to see and access both the slopes and surrounding countryside as well as the village activities.
The apartment is on the 1st floor with stairs and lift access. Just a few metres from the building’s entrance is a well-stocked supermarket, an excellent bakery, numerous other shops, restaurants, bars and ski school. The free to use cabriolet lift proving access to the further shops and restaurants in Arc 2000 is just 2 minutes’ walk.
Outside the apartment we have two spacious balconies, one facing south with views of the ski slopes and towards ‘la Cascade’ and the impressive Aiguille Rouge (3,227m) being the highest mountain in ski area of Les Arcs. The 2nd balcony facing west provides views of the village square and activities in the ‘place de l’horloge’. We are fortunate that not only do these two balconies provide diverse panoramic views of the village and ski slopes but mean we benefit from the sun throughout most of the day, so we can have breakfast in the sunshine on one and have lunch and early evening drinks, still in sunshine, on the other.
Inside the apartment we have a spacious open plan layout with lounge, dining room, kitchen and entrance hall, furnished in the Tyrolean style. Leading from this area we have a passage leading to a master bedroom with en-suite bathroom, a 2nd sizeable bedroom with twin beds (which can be pushed together or apart with space for additional bed if required, a separate shower room and toilet.
The lounge area has two large sofas, one of which is a double sofa bed, together with two arm chairs and a pouf providing comfortable seating for 8/9 adults. The dining area has a large extendable oak dining table capable of seating up to 12 people with a bench and chairs, ideal for large families and for entertaining.
The kitchen has everything you would expect of a well-appointed apartment….. electric fan assisted oven, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, Nespresso machine (pods available for purchase in reception), Raclette, electric BBQ, slow cooker, all crockery, glasses and a complete range of cooking equipment and utensils.
In the ground floor ski room adjacent to the building entrance door we have two lockable ski lockers with plenty of space for 6/8 sets of skis or boards, boots and sledges. Put on your boots, step out of the door and ski away – true ski in/out location.
The building itself has a reception area, sauna and steam room, private heated outdoor pool and Jacuzzi in the garden with fantastic views. There is also a laundry room with washing machine and dryers, luggage storage and showers if required – all available for our guests.
Within the apartment there is plenty to entertain both adults and children. In the lounge there is a widescreen smart TV with numerous channels in various languages and includes Netflix & Amazon etc. (you need your own subscription). Both bedrooms also have widescreen TVs with integral DVD players. The apartment has Wi-Fi, broadband, a flat panel Hi-Fi system and numerous books and games for the whole family.
All bedding, dressing gowns, towels and toiletries are provided and the apartment will undergo a complete change-over clean before each new letting. There is a mid-week cleaning service and change of bedding available at extra cost if required. A 24 hour emergency support service is available for any unforeseen issues.
Baby cots & high chairs are available by request at additional cost.
It is a wonderful apartment, in a great location and within a beautiful car free village. As owners we feel we are able to offer our guests a more personal service than perhaps the main operators and hoteliers within the village. We like to think of our guests as friends sharing the enjoyment of our home in the mountains.
